  • February 14, 2018 - Update to Chrome OS Secure Browser

An update to the Chrome OS Secure Browser (version 3.1) will be available in the Chrome web store for download next week. If the administrator has not locked down the devices the app will upgrade automatically. We have received some Help Desk cases indicating that student’s Chromebooks occasionally “go to sleep” when the student is in the middle of a test session but is taking a long time to read a passage or think about the response to a question. This update will over-ride the Chromebook’s settings and prevent a Chromebook from powering down and “going to sleep” while the student is taking a test. The updated Secure Browser will only prevent the Chromebook from powering down while the student is logged into a test. At all other times the Chromebook’s settings will determine when the Chromebook power down. Installation of this update is voluntary. Students will be able to continue to test on Chromebooks where it has not been installed

  • February 14, 2018 -  Issues with speaking responses during ELPA21 testing

If you have any concerns regarding speaking response recording, please have the student PAUSE the test. Contact the Help Desk for assistance resolving the issue. Do not submit the test until the issue is resolved. If students are recording speaking responses but there is no sound during the playback of the recordings, please verify that the mute button on the headset has not been accidently engaged.
